Marques Mitchell, Acting Chair

Marques Mitchell is currently the local Business Development Representative for the Design & Build firm, KAI Texas. Prior to joining KAI, Marques acquired over nine years of marketing & sales experience working several positions within the Automotive Engineering division of the global corporation, Nexans.

Mr. Mitchell’s current position with KAI has afforded him the opportunity to elevate his profile within the San Antonio professional community. In 2012, he was recognized as a “40 under 40 Rising Star” by the San Antonio Business Journal. In addition to joining the S.A.G.E. board, he also serves on the boards for the Carver Community Cultural Center and the Alamo City Chamber of Commerce. Marques is also a member of Rotary International.

Marques is a native of Virginia and like most military dependents, has lived in various cities across the nation before relocating to San Antonio. He is a local graduate of Winston Churchill High school and holds a B.S. degree in Business from Hampton University.

Has been president of Wittigs Office Interiors since 1980 and has been affiliated with the family-owned company since 1972. He is an honorary member of AIA San Antonio and has served as president and chair to many clubs, councils and boards.

He is active in numerous professional organizations and associations including Say Sí, Carver Center Community Board and Hope for the Future, among others.

Cristina J. Bazaldúa

Univision

Cristina was recruited by Univision Communications, Inc. and serves as their Community Empowerment Director for TV and Radio. She leads efforts to build new and maintain current key relationships with community leaders, nonprofit organizations, political leaders, and the business community in order to cultivate increased awareness and opportunities for the stations in the areas of community service, business, and the local Univision brand. Cristina also co-hosts the newest community show that focuses on education, civic engagement, financial literacy, health and quality of life. It launched October 10, 2015. Contigo en la Comunidad airs on Saturday mornings at 10 AM.

From 2012 to 2014 she served as the Government Affairs & Leadership for the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce where she developed, supported, and managed leadership and education initiatives, as well as, government and external affairs projects. She strategically developed advocacy efforts to communicate the concerns and positions of the business community to local, state, and federal elected officials and government agencies. Her focus was immigration, education, and small business issues.

Cristina has also served as Director of Special Projects for the Office of Councilwoman Mary Alice Cisneros, City of San Antonio – District 1 and was a Council Assistant for the Office Councilman Justin Rodriguez – District 7, as well as his executive assistant / campaign manger during his City Council District 7 Campaign in 2007, and served as campaign manager for Councilman Diego Bernal, City Council District 1 in 2011 for the City of San Antonio Elections.

Cristina J Bazaldúa-Salazar was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois to Mr. Rodolfo & Maria Bazaldúa, Mexican Nationals; and was raised in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México until the age of 11.

She was the first in her family to have graduated high school and college. She graduated from Edinburg High School in Edinburg, Texas. Earned her Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Administration / Leadership from the University of Texas San Antonio and her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Sociology from Our Lady of the Lake University.

Shawn Eddy

CPS Energy

Shawn Eddy is a Senior Director for the CPS Energy Customer Engineering Department and is responsible for the design of new electric and gas infrastructure, and remodels of existing infrastructure, requested by residential, subdivision, commercial and industrial customers. He has served in this capacity since November 2014. Shawn initially joined CPS Energy as its Senior Director of Enterprise Facilities and Asset Management in February 2011. In this role, Shawn was responsible for the maintenance, operation, capital improvement and construction of all CPS Energy facilities, the acquisition and disposition of real estate (excluding right-of-way), the management of all real estate leases, enterprise security operations, the management of enterprise records and the provision of parking and cafeteria services.

Prior to his service at CPS Energy, Shawn served as the Public Works Director, Assistant City Manager and Interim City Manager for the City of Alamo Heights, Texas beginning in July 2007. During his tenure, Shawn was responsible for the maintenance and operation of the City’s streets and drainage systems, water distribution and sanitary sewer systems, parks and green spaces, the provision of solid waste services, the development of the City’s Annual Operating Budget and its human resources functions.

Shawn began his career in public service in 1998 with the City of San Antonio. He served as the Director of Asset Management at the City of San Antonio where he was responsible for property acquisition and disposition, various real estate projects and services, property and lease management, facility and parking services and all vertical construction projects. Prior to his executive tenure, Shawn served in various roles including Facilities Manager, Special Projects Manager, Fiscal Officer and Budget and Management Analyst.

Shawn earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is married and has two children.

Tracy Ross-Garcia

Tracy Ross-Garcia is currently the Director of Community and Public Relations at St. Philip’s College (SPC). Prior to joining St. Philip’s, Tracy worked five years marketing & communications at the UT Health Science Center, School of Medicine. Mrs. Ross-Garcia’s current position with SPC keeps her active in the eastside community.

In addition to joining the SAGE board, she is a member of the Denver Heights Neighborhood Association, San Antonio Area African American Community Fund- Rising Professionals Board Co-Chair and Public Relations Society of America Board member.
